Somalilandsun – A Syrian girl, Mezon Almellehan, is being hailed as the ‘Syrian Malala Yousefzai’, the young Nobel Peace Prize-winning Pakistani girl that won international acclaim for her outspoken campaign to empower girls and women around the world.
After fleeing the horrors of her country’s bloody civil war, Mezon Almellehan and her family made their way to Jordan where they faced a slew of new struggles, but the 16-year-old’s resolve has remained unshaken.

The ‘Syrian Malala’ with BBC 100 Women
Muzzon Al-Mellehan is a 17-year-old Syrian who fled war in her homeland in 2013.
Muzzon and her family have lived in refugee camps in Jordan for two years, where she has been dubbed the ‘Malala of Syria’ for her campaign to keep Syrian girls like her in the camp’s makeshift school, rather than being married off.
