Somalilandsun- We are aware of the civilian casualty allegations near Bariire, Somalia. We take any allegations of civilian casualties seriously, and per standard, we are conducting an assessment into the situation to determine the facts on the ground.
This is per a statement issued by the US Africa Command from its headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany following the death of 10 farmers, killed during a counterterrorism operation in Barire, Somalia.
The Americans Were reacting to the death of 10 farmers among them 2 children who were brutally slain during a raid by U.S and Somali Special Forces in Barire, and subsequently taken to Mogadishu where they were shown to the media by relatives and Medina Hospital officials
This was informed by Somali Update adding that one of its reporter who witnessed the bodies said the ten bodies had fresh bullet wounds some on their heads and chests, while some had broken rips.
Relatives said the joint American and Somali forces attacked early on Friday (today) nearby farmlands outside Barire, about 60 Km northwest of Mogadishu where they killed everyone on their sight.
