Somaliland: President Silanyo on a State Visit to the UAE

BERBERA (Somalilandsun) – The head of state H.E Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo has been accorded an official UAE government welcome upon arrival in the departed to the UAE where he is visiting on a three days official working visit.

The president who is leading a large and broad based delegation departed the country on an Emirati chartered plane at the Berbera international airport.

At a pre-departure press conference at the port city’s airport VIP lounge the head of state informed that his visit is as a result of an official invitation extended him by the UAE government thus parley on strengthening existing bi-lateral relations between the two friendly countries.

Said he, “My mandate, as their democratically elected president of Somaliland is to pursue relations that are beneficial to the livelihoods of citizens”

In conclusion Dr Silanyo who informed that his administration is not in the business of conducting state affairs in secrecy urged those rumormongering about covert meetings to desist.

“It is the doctrine of my administration which never conducts national affairs surreptitiously to keep citizens informed and abreast with any and all developments at all times” Said Dr. Silanyo in conclusion

The president is accompanied by the first lady Ms. Amina Mohamed Jirdeh “Amina Weris”, government officials, legislators and political leaders namely:

• Dr Mohamed Abdilahi Omar, Minister of foreign Affairs

• Mr. Abdiaziz Mohamed Samale, Minister of financeMr Suleiman Duhul Presidential spokesperson briefs the UAE media upon arrival

• Mr. Hirsi Ali Haji Hasan, Minister at the Presidency

• Prof Farah Elmi Gedole, Agriculture minister

• Lady Nimo Husein Qawdan, Deputy Health minister

• Mr. Abdilahi Mohamed Dahir ‘Ukuse’, Deputy information minister

• MP Bashe Mohamed Farah, Deputy speaker of parliament

• Mr. Muse Bihi, Chairman of the Kulmiye party and

• Presidential spokesperson, Mr. Ahmed Suleiman Duhul

To entertain the president before departure was the national police band “Bandboys” who then gave the ground to a guard of honour mounted by various units of the Somaliland national army.

The president and his entourage was seen-off by various personalities and citizens from all walks of life led by the vice president Hon Abdirahman Abdilahi Sayli who will for three days act as president until the return of his boss.
