Somalilandsun: Somali is an ethnicity shared by permanent communities in Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, Somaliland and Ethiopia.

While ethnic somalis also dwell in most countries on earth where they hold citizenship,  they continue to identify with their individual native country.

This identification as either a Somali of Ethiopian   Kenyan, Somaliland origin and inspite of shared traditions, culture and religion a distinct diversity especially  political is also  discernible.

Why political divergence,  simply because from the onset of 1960s  the idea of extracting all somali speaking areas in the region  and  uniting them into one Greater Somalia was implemented with the voluntary union between Somaliland a former British Protectorate, and Somalia a former Italian colony

With French Djibouti,  Ogaden Ethiopia and NFD Kenya failing to join the Greater Somalia bandwagon and subsequent acrimonious events between United Somaliland and Somalia the former reclaimed after a brutal civil war her self-rule  in 1991.

Three  decades later Somaliland which was a recognised member of the United Nations prior to its 1st June 1960  voluntary union with Somalia remains, UNRECOGNIZED AS A NATION
