Somalilandsun:Minister of Justice Hands Over Brand New Ambulance to Custodial Corps
Minister of Justice Mr.Suleiman Warsame Guled availed a new ambulance to Somaliland Prisons.
Also present at the handover ceremony was the minister of health Mr.Hassan Mohamed Ali Gafadhi and the prison commandant.
Speaking at the venue the director of prisons and human rights affairs at the justice ministry Mr.Ibrahim Khadar Saeed stated it took a while to get the ambulance from the authorities. He said “This is the first time the prison department has received an ambulance from the government. It comes fully equipped with all emergency equipment and medicines.”
He went on to reveal the project falls under UN joint rule of law program that was implemented by UNODC which closely works with the justice ministry.
Receiving the brand new Toyota Land cruiser on behalf of the custodial corps was the commissioner of prisons Brigadier General Ahmed Awale Yusuf (Libah). He thanked the ministry of justice for this benevolent gesture calling it a step in the right direction.
Also addressing the gathering was the minister of health who Mr.Gafadhi who promised to supply the custodial corps with medicines and medical equipment.
He said “The prison commandant has done an incredible job improving the quality of life in our prison. Most of the time he comes to me for assistance for medical attention of inmates. The ministry of health has over the years supplied the custodial corps with drugs and other important medical supplies.”
The minister of justice handed over the keys of the ambulance to the prison boss.
He said the ministry will continue assisting the custodial corps until all regions prisons receive ambulances.
