Somaliland: Youth Extend Merciful Gesture to Mental Patients

BERBERA:(Somalilandsun):- A group of handful members of the youth who hail from Sahil region took it upon themselves to extend merciful gesture to the mental patients of Berbera Hospital. They were stirred up into action by their serious plight.

The young men and women raised funds from amongst themselves to purchase clothes and livestock for the six dozen mental in-patients nursed at the facility, one sixth of them being females.

The hospital management praised the youth who handed token benevolent alms to them.

They said that the gesture of the youth was wonderful hence needed to be emulated by the larger members of the public.

An organizer within the the group, Ifrah Haibe Egal stated that the alms did not emanate from either politicians or NGOs but was from their own pockets. She pleaded to the populace to help too.

The youth took their time to perceive the situation of other departments in the hospital.

They said that it was the grave plight of the 60 men and 12 women mental in-patients which moved them and spurred them to action.
