Somaliland: Turkey to Fund a New State of the Art Hospital

Somalilandsun – The Minister of Health Mr. Suleiman Issa Ahmed (Haglatosiye) held a closed door meeting with the Turkish envoy to Somaliland and Somalia H.E Camelettin Khalid Turon in his office where plans for a state of the art national referral hospital were discussed.

During a courtesy call to the minister’s office the ambassador visited the Hargeisa group Hospital, the largest Health institution in country and was taken around the institutions perimeters whereby he saw the deplorable situation of hospital ward and facilities.

In an important press conference the health minister revealed that the government of Turkey has promised to build a new state-of-the-art Hospital building for the people of Somaliland, to replace the old buildings built in 1953 by the British Colonial regime.

Also speaking at the venue was the Turkish envoy who was mesmerized by the warm reception the people of Somaliland gave him and his delegation he promised to help all regional hospitals in the country as a gesture of good will from the people of Turkey who have historical ties with Somaliland.

Also present was the Director General in the ministry of Health Mr. Ahmed Omar Askar and the hospital chairman.

In reciprocity the minister of health thanked the ambassador on behalf of Somaliland citizens about his generous gesture by the Turkish people toward Somaliland.
