Somaliland Singer Najma Nashaad Talks About Meeting with Irish President Michael D. Higgins and His Wife Sabina Coyne Higgins

Ireland(Hayaannews): Young Somaliland singer Najma Abdinasir Iise Kahin (Najma Nashaad), who has been living in Ireland for the past few months, had an honorary meeting today with the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, and his wife, Sabina Coyne Higgins, after being invited to the country’s presidential palace.
This honorary meeting, held at the Aras an Uachtaráin Palace, was a demonstration of how the Irish government values the integration of different cultures in its society.
Singer Najma Nashad had the opportunity to share with the President and his wife the role that art plays in peace, harmony, development, and integration of different cultures in society.
“Today we were honored to receive an official invitation from the President of the Republic of Ireland, His Excellency Michael D. Higgins, and His Excellency Sabrina Beare Higgins, who invited us to the State House in Ireland. I told them that art plays an important role in peace, coexistence, and integration of different cultures in society,” said singer Najma Najaad, over the phone to Hayaannews Editor Mustafe Abdi Mohamed (Mustafe-Janaale).
Continuing her speech, she said, “I was representing my home country of Somaliland at this high-level event, which I consider important and strengthens the relationship between the international community and Somaliland.”
The meeting was attended by scholar Hamse Siyad Aw Abdi Rooble, poet Abdirisaq Hamud Caydid (Jaylani), the great musician Bulshaawi, and also by the son of the President of Ireland – Mr. Michael Higgins Junior.
