Somaliland: President Leads Nationwide Sanitation Campaign

President Silanyo launchs the Somalilamd sanitation campaign with a shovel in Hargeisa

Somalilandsun – Somaliland’s President H.E Ahmed Mohammed Mahamud (Silanyo) led the nation in a major campaign to sensitize the public of importance of cleanliness for a healthy nation.
President Silanyo had earmarked April 7, 2015 for the hygiene exercise. He was accompanied by first lady Mrs. Amina Weris and a large entourage of his cabinet which included Minister in the Office the President Mr. Hirsi Ali Hassan, Internal Security Minister Mr. Ali Mohammed Waran’ade and City Council of Hargeisa top officials.
The cleanliness campaign commenced under the personal supervision of president Silanyo who mobilized all government departments, public and private schools, businesses and other sectors of society to take part in hygiene campaign to rid the country of trash at the same time reeducating citizens in patriotism of their nation.
The head of state inspected most districts of the city earnestly starting the campaign at Ahmed Dagah whereby he was briefed by the city’s deputy mayor of Hargeisa Mr.Abdiaziz Mohammmud Hashi “Mr. President I have mobilized all department of the council and as you can see all councilors are present, we arrived here at 5am this morning in the company of ministers Hirsi and Waran’ade to answer your call for National Hygiene Day.”

Briefing the press in ‘Talk to the Nation Speech’ at Total round about in Ahmed Dagah district whereby president Silanyo kicked off the national hygiene exercise “Today is an important day; because it is the National Hygiene Day that my administration had decided upon so that we could upgrade hygiene of our cities and towns and uplift the health standards of our people which are vital for economic development. I pray almighty God to help us realize this goal. We also know cleanliness is part of faith so I call all Somaliland citizens to join forces and work together to help in the beautification of our cities and conservation of the environment.”

He then proceeded to inspect Ibrahim Koodhbuur, Mohammed Haybe, Ga’an Libah,Mohammed Moge and 26 th June districts of the city before returning to the presidential palace.
