Somalilandsun- – The status of Dr Saad Ali Shire as minister of foreign affairs remains the same as when he assumed his presidential appointed duties to spearhead the Somaliland foreign policy.

This is per statement by the ministry of foreign affairs and international cooperation on the 12th February 2017 and signed by the ministry’s Director General Abdirahman Abdeeq Muhumed , refuting a rumored resignation by Dr Saad Ali Shire as foreign minister.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation hereby denies rumours in circulation recently to the effect that Dr Saad Ali Shire has resigned resigned as the Somaliland minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation.
Therefore, be informed that the resignation is nothing but unfounded propaganda.

While www.somalilandsun.com has not been party to circulating the rumour, what we can confirm is that the relationship between the foreign minister and senior functionaries at the residency have not been cosy as pertains to differences over the now approved UAE military base to be established in the coastal town of Berbera.
