Somaliland: EUCAP Nestor facilitates Senior Police Management Training in Ireland

Somalilandsun – From May 9th to 17th Senior Police officers from Somaliland participated in a training course organized by EUCAP Nestor in collaboration with the Irish ministry of Interior.
The expected outcome of this kind of activity is to help Senior Somaliland Police Officers to enhance their maritime law enforcement capacity in support of the Somaliland Coast Guard.
Another aim of this activity is to promote cooperation between Somali maritime security agencies and the Police within the various Somali regional entities.
The course held in Ireland aims at mentoring on the importance of coordination, cooperation and information sharing among security sector agencies.
Among the topics of the training course held in Ireland are: Senior Management Skills, International Policing Standards, Community Policing, Gender and Human Rights, Interaction with other agencies, Integrity and discipline.

EUCAP Nestor is a civilian EU mission, under the auspices of the Common Security and Defence Policy, which assists host countries in the Horn of Africa and Western Indian Ocean region in strengthening their capacity to ensure maritime security and in particular to fight piracy.
