HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The third phase of talks to resolve disputed presidential and parliamentary election dates failed to kick off as scheduled on Monday the 25th.
This failure of the conflict resolution meet between Ruling Kulmiye and opposition parties of UCID and Wadani was occasioned by the absence of the meetings’ chairperson Somaliland Vice president Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail ‘Sayli’ who is on urgent national duties in Berbera.
Though the VP requested the participating parties to convene on Tuesday- 26th May reports indicate that the UCID and Wadani opposition parties are of the opinion that the VP’s trip to Berbera is a gimmick to stall negotiations by the ruling party and the administration.
