Somalilandsun: THET has received a grant from the Guernsey Overseas Aid Commission in the first collaboration between the two organisations.
The grant will help improve treatment and prevention services through providing high quality medical training tools to health workers in Somaliland.
The grant will be used to carry out a project aimed at providing an environment where medical students can safely practice their clinical skills at Burao University, Somaliland, which is the only teaching institution in the eastern part of the country.
The project will equip a skills laboratory through the procurement of manikins, such as pelvis models, human heart models, and foetus models. These basic facilities are vital to enable Burao University’s medical faculty to function effectively, and will be used to train student doctors, helping to increase the quality and skills of the graduates and contribute positively to patient safety and quality improvement.
