BURAO (Somalilandsun) – The government of Somaliland is pursuing events that led to the killing of innocent citizens in Jama Dubad village in Gashamo district of Ethiopia’s Zone five Somali administrative region.
A broad Government team led you the minister of interior Mohamed Ali Waran’ade met and held discussions with traditional leaders in the Toghdeer regional capital of Burao where the now infamous massacre of civilians in the zone five region were top of the agenda.
Hosted by the Toghdeer regional governor meeting participants on the Government side include team leader Waran’ade and his colleagues in the ministries of defense, information, Justice and state minister for Aviation messrs Ahmed Haji Adami, Osman Sahardiid, Ahmed Farah and Ahmed Nuur Fahiye respectfully.
Though the meeting at the governor’s residence in Burao was closed to journalists information indicate that discussions which followed a sumptuous Ramadan breakfast and prayers dwelt on means of ensuring citizens of Somaliland resident in the Ethiopian zone five Somali administrative region who have been under regular attacks by the Liyuu police paramilitary unit resulting in deaths.
The Gashamo massacre which ensued after the Liyuu police attacked residents of Jama Dubad village following a road accident involving a an ambulance and privately owned car in which a mother and daughter lost lives as well as a confrontation with a Khat transporter bound for Somaliland ended with the butchering of over 20 innocents among them women and children.
The heinous crime was immediately discussed by the president of Somaliland Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo and a visiting delegation from the federal government of Ethiopia from Addis Ababa who promised to pursue investigations.
With the high level meeting between the government and traditional leaders from the clan of the massacred people the Republic of Somaliland is showing determination to end once and for all the never ending brutal incidents meted by the Liyuu police who appear to operate under carte Blanche authority.
