Connecting Youth/Professionals Event on Saturday 14th July from 3:30pm to 8:30pm at Goldsmiths Univeristy
This event was organised by a handful of active young Somaliland activists based in the UK to address the issue that in the UK; young Somalilanders (aged under 35) are an unheard voice, especially when compared to the older generation or other communities in the UK.
One of the main objectives is that this one day event brings together Somalilanders in the UK and professionals and those with an interest in Somaliland to discuss issues related to development and the political, economic and social challenges Somaliland faces. The hope is that this event will attract around 100 or more people on the day and it will be held at Goldsmiths University, a University of London school. The format of the day is unique in that we will have key note speakers along with short presentations by active young Somalilanders. The event will not just be seminars and lectures it will also touch on workshops to make it as interactive and discussion based as possible. The hope is that following on from this event, some sort of Somaliland-Youth led organisation/ Civil society emerges in the United Kingdom whcih can act as the voice of all students and young professionals who have an active interest in Somaliland.
The Venue is: New Building Lecture Theatre: Goldsmiths University, SE14 6NW. Nearest Train Station New Cross Gate and New Cross. 5 minutes walk.
