BORAME (Somalilandsun) – For the first time in 24 years deaf citizens have graduated from a local university.
This educational landmark ensued during the 13th Graduation ceremony at Amoud University in Borame officiated by the Somaliland head of state President Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo in which four of the 621 grandaunts were citizens with hearing impairment.
“While congratulating on this achievement of magnitude in your youthful lives I also urges you to offer you skills to the nation” president Silanyo told the grandaunts.
The head of state who left the capital Hargeisa in the morning hours for the Borame function was accompanied by senior national and Awdal regional officials as well as Amoud university staff.
