Somalilandsun: The twin parliamentary and local council’s elections slated for Somaliland on the 31st May 2021 shall be held as planned, and will take place at the agreed time, God willing.

This was informed by the National Election Commission-NEC during a briefing to the   president Musa Bihi Abdi at the Somaliland presidency in Hargeisa on the 23rd April 2021.

A post meeting statement issued by the presidential press office read

The President of the Republic of Somaliland, HE Muse Bihi Abdi, met at the Presidential Palace with members of the Somaliland National Electoral Commission, in which focus was on the smooth running of the House of Representatives and local elections.

First, the National Electoral Commission (NEC) briefed the President on the preparations, organization and implementation of planned activities for the elections. Also discussed was the cost of the elections

President Bihi commended the National Electoral Commission for its diligence and insisted that the elections be held on time. He urged that the destiny of the nation and the security of the nation is in their hands, and that more efforts and responsibilities are needed to get rid of these heavy and weighty tasks under their control.

Finally, the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mr. Muse Bihi Abdi, prayed for the National Electoral Commission to keep this difficult task for the nation.
