Somaliland sun- According to Dame Kelly Holmes, Mo Farah a Briton of Somaliland origin will go down as the greatest British athletics Olympian of all time, with the 33-year-old favourite to win another gold in the 5,000 metres.

The double Olympic champion said she will always fondly remember the track and field athletes she watched growing up, but Farah’s achievements – three Olympic gold medals so far, including his victory in the 10,000m in Rio – set him apart.

Dame Kelly also said the performances of Team GB in Rio had been incredible and showed the huge difference that proper funding can make.

‘I’m of the generation that can remember Seb Coe, Steve Ovett, Daley Thompson etc, and those battles will always be in my memory,’ she said.

‘But clearly Mo has done so well and it’s likely he’ll win a fourth (gold medal), which means he’ll be the best Olympian we’ve ever had in our sport.

‘The performance of Team GB so far has been incredible and you wonder if we can ever get better than this.
