Somaliland: Government Dispatches Security Delegation to Heal Diplomatic Feud

HARGEISA (Somalilansun) – Authorities in Hargeisa have dispatched a security delegations composing of senior officials at Interior Ministry whose mission is said to mend the diplomatic uproars experienced between Somaliland & Ethiopia.

This comes days after Somaliland’s authorities arrested intelligence & plain clothes police officers from Ethiopia at Kalabaid center some few kilometers from the border town of Togwajale. This incident prompted diplomatic roar from Ethiopia with authorities in Addis Ababa accusing Hargeisa of receiving confessionary statements jeopardizing their security from the arrested officers.

The said officers are still confined at the CID headquarters where they are being interrogated- a task that saw both the Governor & the Mayor of Gabilay town being questioned on the activities of the Ethiopians before their arrest.

According to a reliable source privy to the information from both sides, these arrests necessitated the dispatch of the senior officials to Addis Ababa.

An unconfirmed report however indicates that Addis Ababa has expelled Somaliland’s consulate following the incident.

Meanwhile Interior Minister Ali Waran Adde left for the Ethiopian city on the evening of Thursday to join the Hargeisa delegation
