Somalilandsun- The governments of Somaliland and Ethiopia are to intensify their anti-terrorism cooperation in order to ensure sustainable peace and security in the region.
This Commitment follows a meeting between Somaliland president Ahmed Mahmoud Silanyo and Ethiopian Prime minister Hailemariam Desalegn held in Addis Ababa on Saturday 29th October 2016.
Bike committing to enhancement of existing partnership especially as pertains to trade, investment, cross border movement the two leaders also pursued avenues of linking the two countries with infrastructure and developing Berbera port as Ethiopia has remained desirous to use the port to promote its foreign economic relations and trade.
The meeting was confirmed to the Ethiopia news agency by the Somaliland head of state in Addis Ababa where he is leading a high level delegation, “ We discussed on issues of mutual interests as pertains our two countries vast areas of cooperation” said president Silanyo
.
On the president’s departure from Hargeisa journalist Omar Mohamed Farah reported that
Somaliland President H.E. Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo and a state delegation jetted off to Ethiopia for an official visit that would take several days.
Somaliland’s head of state visit came after an official invitation from the Ethiopian Prime Minister Haile Mariam Desalegn and is expected to bolster friendly and bilateral ties between the two countries.
While speaking to a press conference on Friday the presidential Spokesman Hussein-deyr said, “This is a working official trip to Ethiopia after an official invitation from the Ethiopian premier Hon. Haile Mariam Desalegn. The two leaders’ discussion would focus on the long standing ties between the two states, especially on the security cooperation, economic ties as well as regional matters as a whole.
During his two days working tour the president and his delegation comprising of the First Lady Amina Weris, the Minister of foreign affairs Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire, Presidency Minister Mohamed Hashi Abdi, and the chairman of ruling Kulmiye party Muse Behi Abdi among others will meet various senior Ethiopian officials.
