Somali: EUCAP Facilitates Judiciary with Management in Maritime Context Skills

Judiciary management seminar held in Mogadishu

Somalilandsun- The Judiciary system in Somalia is now better placed to aptly handle maritime related legal issues pertinent to the country and in conformity with international norms.
This follows the successful conclusion of a Judiciary Management in the Maritime context seminar organised by EUCAP Somalia held in Mogadishu from 26th-27th August 2017.
This is according to a press statement issued by EUCAP Somalia, a civilian mission of the European Union with the mandate to assist partner countries establish self-sustaining capacity for enhancement of maritime security, through contribution to the establishment and capacity building of maritime civilian law enforcement capability in Somalia, including Somaliland.

“Twenty-nine Somali judges, including Presidents of the Courts, attended the event at the Mogadishu Supreme Court” read the statement adding that “The seminar aimed at developing the capacity and capability of Somali judges, courts and prosecutors focusing on enhancing structures, independence, oversight and management in the judicial system”
