The Ethiopian and SL governments have reached an amicable understanding hence the students visa issue has now been put to rest.
The neighbouring country was to repatriate SL students who were in that country illegally.
Following the impending roundup after Ethiopian institutions denied SL students to join their campuses without student permits/ visas, the SL government intervened and a mutual agreement was reached between the two neighbours.
According to a circular from the SL foreign ministry, the government will furnish Ethiopia with lists of bonafied SL students for verification and duly permit processing and issuance by the Ethiopian government.
By the strength of the understanding, the students will in the meantime continue their courses. It added that the deputy ambassador reached the agreement with Ethiopian Director of African Affairs in its foreign ministry.
