GAROWE (Somalilandsun) – The Somalia administrative region of Puntland has banned broadcasts of Somali National Television station.
The proscribing order was issued by the Garowe based ministry of Interior, local government and rural development which accused the SNTV of propagating lies related to the manner that the regional administration is treating Yemeni refugees.
Signed by the deputy minister Abdilahi Hashi Warsame ‘Qodob Deero’ the order (see below) was copied to the SNTV offices in Bosaso, Eastern regional police commander, ministry of information and the presidency among others informed that the ban order take effect immediately. The banned station is owned and operated by the Mogadishu based Somalia Federal government
Meanwhile a report by the Puntland ministry of foreign affairs indicates that the regional administration is inundated by the over 5000 refugees already in the region after escaping the ongoing war in Yemen. Read Puntland is feeling the strain of the refugee influx from Yemen
