Somalilandsun: “Somaliland has embarked on a path of dictatorship and lawlessness which is leading the country to a direction that she does not appreciate and president Muse Bihi is solely responsibility. ”
This was stated by opposition Wadani Party presidential elections 2022 Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi ‘Irro’ during a press briefing in Hargeisa which was in reaction to the establishment of commission to investigate the National Elections Commission-NEC
The five member team was setup by President Muse Bihi Abdi a day after he addressed a joint session of the bicameral parliament on the state of the Somaliland nation.
While the power struggle push and pull at the electoral body was not Included in the annual state of the nation Address, forthcoming presidential elections were top of the menu.
Stating that Somaliland is proud of its democracy and free and fair elections, president Bihi went on to pledge that his administration is committed to a timely free and fair presidential elections slated for 13th November this year.
But in the same breath the head of state added that “It was necessary to complete the remaining elections such as the opening of political parties on time and the election of the President, in accordance with the laws and the Constitution of the country. Read full text of the address HERE
This sentiment which was immediately followed by the NEC probe committee seems to have irked the opposition politicians who are of the view that the actions are geared towards derailing the polls thus extend the tenure of the President whose five year term expires on the 13th January 202202

Apart from accusing president Bihi of dictatorial tendencies Abdirahman Irro said that he, the president has not only failed to declare his quest for a second term but is certainly not ready or willing to hold timely elections later this year.
“if we all heard right President Bihi’s annual address to both houses of parliament indicated a firm commitment to hold the November polls as slated” said Irro Adding that the purported investigations of NEC are nothing but a cosmetic dressing to no elections.
Being categorical that the elections will take place as scheduled not matter what , Abdirahman Irro firmly rejected the commission appointed by the president which he termed as partial thus representing a single party.
Reiterating that the country has taken the path of dictatorship and that “Opposition parties will convene an emergency meeting to discuss the situation in the country,” Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Irro called on Waddani party supporters to prepare for what he said were steps to restore democracy in Somaliland.
