HARGEISA (Somalilandsun)- Minister of Planning Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire and Ministry of Youth, Sport and Tourism Mr. Ali Saed Raygal released contradictory statements on SONYO youth umbrella conflict on leadership election.
Dr. Sa’ad Ali Shire in a statement issued on the conflict stated, “In consideration to complaints from some organizations in SONYO Umbrella received on January 6 and 21/January 215; and in accordance to the law of solving conflicts, the Ministry hereby stops all activities, specially on issues related to handing over of leadership until the conflicts is solved. We also remind the opposing groups to forward their complaints about the leadership issue to the Ministry in writing.”
On the other hand, Minister of Youth and Sports Mr. Ali Saed Raygal released a statement that contradicts the statement released by The Minister of Planning by supporting and legalizing one of the conflicting groups which elected its leadership at a meeting held at SONYO headquarter.
Mr. Ali Saed Raygal stated that the following decision was reached after mediation efforts by the ministry; on the basis of SONYO umbrella laws on internal procedures and obligation of the Ministry.
1. The majority of the delegates elected SONYO umbrella leadership on the basis of its constitution.
2. The 7th Executive Board of SONYO Umbrella elected at a meeting on December 30, 2014 at SONYO Headquarter is the legal board in which Siyad Omar Ali was elected as chairman with board members who elected Abdulqani Mohamoud Jidhe as Deputy Chairman for the next 2 years.
The Minister of Youth and Sports stated that this is the official and final resolution on the conflict on the basis of mediation by the Ministry and a such informs all stakeholders on youth issues that as of January 25, 2015 that SONYO conflict on leadership have been solved.
The statement emphasis that any other resolution or statement on the conflict will be considered as null and void and demands anyone that opposes this resolution will be considered as instigators and will be brought to justice.
