Somalilandsun- Africa has emerged as a new popular destination for Chinese travelers in the past three years, with Chinese visitors making nearly 800,000 visits to the continent in 2017, according to a report by the China Tourism Academy on Monday.
Ctrip, an online travel service provider, shows the number of travelers to countries and districts in Africa saw a year-on-year rise of 60 percent in 2017, while the number increased over 70 percent in the first seven months of this year compared with the same period of 2017.
The report said that Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou in South China’s Guangdong province are the top three cities that have the most travelers spending their holidays in Africa so far this year.
Chinese travelers, according to the report, usually stay for 7 or 10 days traveling the destination. And travelers from Shanghai spend the most during the trip, reaching over 12,000 yuan ($1,750) per person on average, followed by visitors from Beijing and Chongqing, accounting for 11,900 and 10,900, respectively.
Cairo, Port Louis and Casablanca were listed as the top three cities that received the most Chinese travelers to Africa in the first half of 2018, the report said.
