Somalilandsun: Adel Ali, Group Chief Executive of Air Arabia, the first and largest low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa, has won the “Airline Business Award” at the esteemed Airline Strategy Awards 2014. Ali received the Award in recognition of Air Arabia’s commitment to offer high-quality, low-cost travel solutions to passengers in the Arab world and beyond.

Ali, who collected the Airline Business Award at an exclusive reception in London, was recognised for successfully developing Air Arabia’s expanding business model and for making a lasting strategic contribution to the global aviation industry through strong leadership. As a result of its route expansion strategy, Air Arabia flew more than 6.1 million passengers in 2013, a 15 per cent increase on the preceding year.

The Airline Strategy Awards, organised by Airline Business magazine, was established in 2002 to recognise the aviation industry’s highest achievers in boardroom leadership. The 2014 winners were selected by an independent panel of highly respected industry professionals, including sector analysts and former airline chief executives.
