Somalilandsun: The government of Somaliland is determined to completely bring an end to oft resurging clan clashes in the Elf-afweine district of Saanag region.
This follows the dispatch by president Muse Bihi Abdi of a high powered government delegation to El-afweine for purposes of bringing the clan clashes to a conclusive and ultimate end.
The ministerial level team now parleying stakeholders in the area is led by interior minister Mohamed Kahin Ahmed and includes the minister of council’s coordination Mohamed Haji Aden, Planning minister Hasan Jama Gaafadhi, Youth and Sports minister Boos Mire Mohamed, minister of justice Mustafa Mohamed Ali Bile, minister of Environment and rural development Ms. Shukri Bandare and their defense counterpart Abdiqani Mohamed Ateeye.
On arrival to begin their mission the team leader minister Mohamed Kahin informed that the government is pursuing avenues to reconcile warring clans in the district and more so settle the recent eruption of violence in Fadhi-gaab area.
The ministerial team now in its third day of activities is holding deliberations with traditional leaders from the two clans separately with expected joint meeting to culminate.
In the meantime all security agencies stationed in the district have been ordered to arrest any civilian found bearing weapons whether licensed or not
This mission comes in the heels of a terse government warning issued jointly by the ministers of planning and livestock development in Hargeisa where it was explicitly stated that the administration of president Muse Bihi has the mandate to protect citizens and their property thus any measures shall be pursued towards that end.
