Somalilandsun: Sahil region and wider Somaliland citizens continue to benefit from skilled services provided by locally trained women and youths.
Sahil region is the latest to be availed tailoring services by skilled women following training by the Youth Volunteers for Development and Environment Conservation-YOVENCO LNGO
With funding from giz Germany and approved by the Somaliland the Ministry of education the LNGO has completed a tailoring training project for women pooled from various districts of Sahil region.
This course provided trainees with knowledge and skills on how to draft basic patterns for boys/men and girls/women.
Upon graduation the women have acquired comprehended Basic Measurements Calculation Design and Sketching tailoring skills, thence secure income be it self or else employment.
This project was made possible courtesy of the gig’s Disaster Risk Management-RDRM project that has the overall goal of strengthening the capacity of state institutions to prevent and manage disaster risks in Somaliland.
To achieve this goal the German project employs numerous strategies with the Sahil training one falling under the objective of increasing the economic, political and social participation of women and young people in order to strengthen the resilience of these severely disadvantaged groups.
