HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – Secondary schools in the country will start offering computer studies as an examination subject.
The minister of education Hon Zamzam Aden Abdi revealed this during a press conference in her offices where she held a meeting with a visiting Turkish delegation.
The education boss said that the Turkish Government has agreed to fund a broad based education program that encompasses computer studies and laboratory construction.
While informing that the Turks will provide funds to procure computers for all secondary schools in the country, Hon Zamzam Aden also revealed that the program would also see local computer teachers trained in Turkey.
Also included in the Turkish education development project for Somaliland is the construction of science laboratories for the secondary schools after a request of the education ministry that desires to improve science skills in the country.
The office of the Turkish prime minister’s office which will remain in the country until they initiate the project will first avail computers to five select secondary schools in various regions as a prelude as a pilot project.
