Somaliland: Sudan claimed seized weapons and Somaliland releases them

Hargeisa(Somalilandsun)-The government of Somaliland released the weapons it seized on January 24/2014 after the government of Sudan claimed that it belonged to it and requested the released of the weapons seized as illegal.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mohamed Bihi Yonis elaborating the release of the weapons which were unloaded from the cargo ship M V Shakir said, “President Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo received a letter from President Omar Bashir of Sudan, who claimed that the weapons belonged to Sudan. Somaliland Minister of Interior Mr. Ali Mohamed Waran-Adde in his investigation confirmed that the weapons belonged to Sudan and was on its way to Sudan by the organizers of the Weapons Fair in Abu Dhabi.”
Mr. Yonis added that Somaliland- a state not recognized yet has good relations with many countries plays a good role in the regions security and peace, have liaison offices in different countries and also have a strong cultural relation with Sudan.”
The Manager of the Port of Berbera Mr. Ali Xoor Xoor confirmed that the weapons which were unloaded on Monday night to have been already loaded on the ship; which is expected to continue its voyage today.
