HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The Much anticipated Somaliland Voters register is to be established in July this year as per the dictates of a presidential decree.
This was informed through a press statement in Somali language (See below) dispatched by the Somaliland presidential press service in Hargeisa with the National Elections Commission being main addressee
The Presidential decree read in Verbatim
Quote-The President Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo has designated the start of the Somaliland voter registration as per decree #JSL/M/XERM/249-3164/042015
The President
In compliance with article 90 of the Somaliland Constitution
In Pursuit of fulfilling dictates from article 18 of the amended voter registration law #37/2007
And in acting upon Somaliland National Election Commission Recommendations Ref: KDQ/XK/405/2015, dated 09/04/2015 related to sufficient peri9od for establishing a voter’s register.
And while acknowledging the importance of conducting free and fair elections
Hereby decrees that Voter registration in all regions of Somaliland shall commence on 21st July 2015.Unquote
