ERIGAVO (Somalilandsun) – A dusk to dawn curfew has been imposed in Erigavo town in-order to enhance security following demonstrations by a section of residents.
While announcing the curfew the Sanaag regional governor Ahmed Mahmud Gelle ‘Da’ar’ said who accused some unscrupulous businessmen of orchestrating the demonstrations in protest of recent changes from use of the Gimbar Somali shilling to Somaliland currency said “While neither Erigavo town nor Sanaag region has observed incidences of insecurity the government imposes this Dusk to Dawn curfew as a measure of taking security a notch higher”
On Thursday a number of residents were injured after demonstrators clashed with police following the infusion of large quantities of fake Gimbar notes from Puntland which had been made defunct by the government of Somaliland last week.
