Somalilandsun – Heavily armed troops from Puntland, a Somalia Federal Government –SF regional administration have established base in areas near the Tukaraq town of Sool region in Somaliland.
The large contingent of Puntland regular troops are said to await arrival of more ordnance and support firepower supplied by the Dervish, a special force unit now enroute from its main base in Garowe, the administrative capital of the region bordering Somaliland in the east.
According to reports by Mucaaradnews.com the ongoing incursion into Tukaraq is geared towards establishing a supply base for the troops from Puntland intent on an all-out attack on Las Anod town the region capital of Somaliland’s eastern region of Sool which the Garowe administration lays claim to.
Meanwhile yet to be confirmed reports indicate that Somaliland army units in Sool region have been placed on combat standby status while covert movement towards Sool region of armored units from various bases in the country is ongoing.
While Puntland lays claim to parts of eastern Somaliland and to a wider extent its parent in the guise of the Somalia federal Government has assertions over the entire country, the authorities in Hargeisa Recently warned of the Negative security impact on the Horn and East African Regions if the neighbouring countries deploys a 3000 strong special force under training on an inch of its territory.
Though the border dispute between the formerly united but now separated countries has been in existence since 1991, it is one solved easily by Either Great Britain which demarcated the boundaries or the UN which recognized Somaliland five days before Somalia in 1960.
More poignant of the new incursion from the east of the country as per Somalilandsun sources, is a need of the SFG and its on and off cahoots Puntland to establish some authority in areas under the jurisdiction of Somaliland more so before the signing of a partnership in Cairo on Wednesday that entails Egypt utilizing the port of Berbera in Somaliland and funding to Mogadishu for presumed port developments.
