HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The government is to establish a fully fledged police station at Dami estate in the capital city.
The president H.E Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo has officially opened the new tarmac road connecting Dami and Sheikh Estates with the Central Business District in the capital Hargeisa.
The head of state who also laid the foundation stone for a police station at the estate during the road commissioning ceremony said that his administration is committed to the uplifting of livelihoods for all citizens.
While addressing the thousands of jubilant residents of Dami estate most of them members of the minority Gaboye clan, Dr Silanyo said that the government recognizes all citizens as equals and thus equal treatment as pertains to development projects.
The head of state also informed that the an improved police presence in the area is to be uplifted once the construction of a new police station is complete thus an elevation from a police post to fully fledged station.
The presidential advisor on minority issues Mr Barkad Jama Hirsi who thanked the head of state for continued attention to minority clans said that area residents will benefit greatly from the new tarmac road considering transport difficulties encountered during the rainy seasons.
While informing that past governments had ignored the minority clans living in the area and the country as well Mr Barkad Jama said, “Since president Silanyo came to office our lot, we the so called minorities clans, have seen a continued improvement on a regular basis”
This is the first discernible development project effected within minority clan areas
