Somalilandsun: The Somaliland Police Force has promoted thus absorbed a large number of female officers to its senior ranks.
This revelation became a public fact during a meeting between President Musa Bihi and several recently promoted Female police officers at the Presidency in Hargeisa.
Flanking the President at the meet were the Commander of the Somaliland police force Brigadier General Mohamed Adan Sagadhi ‘Dabagale’, commander Police General service police unit- Birmadka, Colonel Abdi Ahmed-tiir and his deputy, Lt Colonel Khadar Mahmud Abdilahi,
Brigadier Dabagale thanked the president for his role in encouragement and support that has led to the massive reconstruction of Police Force be it in facilities, equipment or training.
Upon pledging impartial provision of law and order services by the police force , Gen Dabagale said to the president
“This policewomen who are joining the Male dominated officer corps thus assume senior national and regional security decision making positions manifests your pursuit of a disciplined and citizen friendly police force”
In his welcome President Bihi extended his personal, administration and citizens congratulations to the first batch of youthful and university graduate female officers to join the Somaliland Police officer corps
Terming women as exemplified by motherhood to compassionate in nature, the head of state said their inclusion into the higher echelons of the police force shall help enhance citizens confidence with those ensuring law and order
Highlighting the role of women in society and public president Musa Bihi said the now senior officers were not only a role model for others to join police service but to empowerment of women in other sectors of life.
Wishing the new cadre of Female police officers assuming national command posts continued progress in their careers the President concluded by telling them that
“As you aspire to top Somaliland police command I urge pursuit of higher education studies”
