Somalilandsun: The President of the Republic of Somaliland HE Muse Bihi Abdi and the high level delegation led by him who left Hargeisa yesterday afternoon to the US was given a warm welcome at Bole International Airport.
The President’s delegation was welcomed by senior officials from the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Somaliland Ambassador to Ethiopia.
The president, H.E Musa Bihi Abdi has travelled for an official visit to America. Some cabinet members and a selection of top businesspersons accompanied the head of state.
This is a historic visit because of not only the official invite but the fact that for the first time the entire delegation is traveling using the Somaliland passport stamped with USA visas issued by the America’s embassy in Djibouti
Those accompanying the president are the Minister of Internal Security Hon.Mohammed Kaahin Ahmed, Minister of Information and Culture and National Guidance Hon. Suleiman Yusuf Ali Koore, Minister of Commerce Hon. Mohammud Hassan Sacad (Sajiin, Minister of Environment Hons. Shukri Haji Ismael Bandare .
Also in the presidential delegation are some country top business leaders such as Mohammed Said Du’ale proprietor of Dahabshiil Group of Companies, Mohamed Said Geedi the owner of Somcable Company, the CEO OF Telesom Company Abdikarim Mohammed Eid, Abdinasir Adan Nur (Telesom) and the Chairman of Hargeisa Cultural Centre Jama Muse Jama.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr.Issa Kayd Mohammud is already in the US to prepare for the president arrival.
The president itinerary during the America tour is not disclosed, but MFA stated the President will meet with a number of U.S. officials. Similarly, according to a post on its twitter, account the Heritage Foundation confirmed the president on March 14, 2022 would make a speech titled “The big promise of relationship of America and Somaliland” during this meeting Somaliland nationals living in America will attend the meeting.
This visit to America by the president is going to open many avenues for Somaliland quest for self-determination. Somaliland Diaspora Community in America are in full gear making sure the president arrival is memorable
