Hargeisa (Somalilandsun) – The intervention of by a committee of elders has ensued with an amicable resolution to differences that have been simmering at the presidency.
Operations at the presidency are back to normal following the reconciliation of the president and his deputy H.E Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo and Hon Abdirahman Abdilahi Sayli by a committee of prominent personalities.
The elders committee whose memebers include the speaker of Parliament Hon Abdirahman Irro, Guurti Elders Haji Abdi Warabe and Muhumed Aw Ahmed assisted by a number legislators made the presidency reconciliation announcement at a press conference held at parliament buildings.
Though he did not divulge the differences between the two senior most officials, Hon Abdirahman Irro who was Flanked by the elders committee read a prepared statement that dwelt on the successes of the reconciliation necessitated by issues national.
The Reconciliation Elders Committee statement read:
Quote- As we are all aware there have been differences between the president H.E Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo and the Vice president Hon Abdirahman Abdilahi Sayli.
Having considered national imperatives pertaining to security and unity, Speakers of the two chambers of parliament assisted by two of the most senior elders in the country Haji Abdi Warabe and Muhumed Aw Ahmed and a number of legislators held meetings initially separately and then jointly with the two principles.
The meetings which had the two pronged objectives of:
1. We leaders familiarizing with reasons behind the differences at the presidency and
2. Reaching an amicable resolution to the differences
And upon the committee having collected and familiarized with reasons behind the differences the president and his deputy were made to differ for the sake of the nation.
President Silanyo and Vice president Sayli who are both nationalist and committed servants of Somaliland acceded to our pursuasions and acquiesced to reconcile and go back to work in partnership as usual.
To this effect we hereby inform that earlier differences existing at the presidency have been resolved-Unquote
