Somalilandsun: The House of Representatives has unanimously approved recent ministerial appointments made by president Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo.
Chaired by speaker of the Somaliland lower chamber of parliament Abdirahman Irro at a session with a quorum of 51 out of the 82 members Yasin Mahmud Faraton was given an unanimous approval as interior minister
Others to receive similar approval were the newly appointed Aviation and air transport minister Farhan Haybe and the deputy justice minister as well as chairman of the civil service commission.
While it is constitutional for legislators to approval senior presidential appointments the rubber stamp given to Faraton who replaced Mohamed Ali Waran’ade is significant for he is the first from eastern Sool region based Dulbahante clansman to hold the senior most security portfolio in the country
The appointment of Faraton that saw his predecessor and long term politician join the diplomatic corps came courtesy of mini reshuffle by president Silanyo that affected the cabinet, armed forces , regional administration and parastatals
