HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The government of Somaliland has thanked all stakeholders involved in making the five days national examinations a success.
The thanks were extended by the minister of Education Ms Zamzam Abdi Aden who was flanked by her director of examinations Daud Ahmed Farah during a press briefing at the ministry’s headquarters in Hargeisa where she also revealed that all papers are now safe custody at the building.
“I thank all parents and mayors in various parts of the country for their great support during the five days of examinations thence their successful conclusion” said Minister Zamzam
The education minister upon revealing that the exercise was undertaken without any security mishaps said that Somaliland citizens have realized the importance of education thus its separation with politics as has been the fact in the past ensuing with a number of students not sitting their examinations in some parts of the country.
“We managed to conduct successful examinations at a government primary school in Midigale which is a town 60 kms from Garowe thus an indication that citizens are cognizant of knowledge benefits thence not politicizing educational activities.
Garowe is the capital of Puntland a Somalia administrative region bordering Somaliland in the east which has for sometimes created insecurity in Sool and Sanaag regions due to claims on some districts of Somaliland.
According to the director of examinations at the Somaliland ministry of education Daud Ahmed Farah over 20,000 students and pupils sat their class eight and four national examinations with those seeking a certificate in primary education numbering 13,320 while 7,720 sat for their ‘O’ levels examinations undertaken in all primary and secondary schools in Somaliland.
