HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – Guul Group is inviting prospective investors from all over the world, who would like to be part of the initial phase of sustainable investment in Somaliland’s young economy that is currently exhibiting great potential in a number of industries; Agriculture, Banking, Energy, Fisheries, livestock, Minerals, Salt and Services.
The government’s commitment to creating a business enabling environment which encourages innovation & fosters local and international linkages to expand market opportunities, while protecting investor assets is a huge step for Somaliland; with a mission to proactively seek, attract, facilitate and retain productive foreign investment in line with the national investment priorities & National Development Plan (NDP)
We are pleased that the Vice President of Somaliland and Minister of Trade and Investment have emphasised that Somaliland is “open for business” today and there are many opportunities to invest which are both untapped and lucrative. Presenting the opportunities along with the challenges and risk, giving potential investors the chance to evaluate their stance in relation to these opportunities gives Somaliland a good platform to attract investment. We are thrilled that procedures have been put in place to protect both the country and investors; including legal frameworks, dispute resolutions, work permits, labour regulations and as importantly incentives for investors such as tax concessions. Guul Group’s clients and partners look forward the services from the Ministry and applaud that all investor registration will take place in one office at a very short period of time in a much more effective and efficient manner.
According the Minister of Planning and Development Dr Sa’ad Shire, “we need $100m investment to create 10,000 for graduates every year.” He also said neighbouring countries such as Kenya, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Uganda attract billions of dollars of direct foreign investment via similar Investment Promotion Agencies so this could be the next big thing in the search for global partners.
