HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – 637 students have graduated from the University of Hargeisa.
The president H.E Ahmed Mahmoud Silanyo who officiated at the ceremony held at the main Hargeisa University campus congratulated the graduates from nine of the eleven faculties for successful completion of their various first-degree studies.
“I hereby extend my congratulations to the graduating students, their parents and lecturers for a job well done,” said the president
President Silanyo who said that graduating youths are the future backbone of the country revealed that the government would continue to employ the highest number possible from the graduates while enhancing alternate job creation efforts.
The Hargeisa University colleges that graduated the 637 include Medicine, Midwifery, Conflict Resolution, Law, Economics, Administration, Finance etc. adds to the other recently graduated from a number of local universities notably Amoud and Burao.
According to the chairperson of the Hargeisa university board of trustees/ cum minister of planning Dr Saad Ali Shire, the increase of graduate citizens translate to a reduction in national illiteracy levels.
The Education Minister Hon Zamzam Abdi Aden informed on how pleased she was to attend such a big graduation ceremony that comes in the heels of a recent one at Amoud University. She urged the graduates to utilize their newly acquired knowledge and skills in developing the nation.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates Hon Abdirahman Aw Ali Farah former Somaliland vice president and oldest graduating student, thank the lecturers and administration staff of the Hargeisa University for their Commendable Job that saw not only the youth but also the elderly graduate with distinction.
