HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The National Election Commission-NEC has released local council election results of Marodi jeeh region.
The ruling Kulmiye political party has once again taken pole position at regional level after winning seven local government seats in the local council elections held on 28th November.
According to results released by NEC late in the afternoon Kulmiye leads the pack of seven contesting parties after it scoped 7 seats while the second position was jointly taken by Wadani, Haqsoor and UCID with 4 seats each followed Ummada with 3 and Dalsan 2 while Rays took the honour of tail position with one seat.
While NEC is yet to release the final national election results tally, available regional figures indicate that the three top positions are held by Kulmiye, Wadani and UCID in that order thus effectively meaning that the three are now set for registration as national parties.
The four other contestants of Ummada, Haqsoor, Dalsan and Rays will have to merge with the three winners as they can no longer remain as legal political entities due to the dictates of the constitution that allows only three national parties to be registered at any given time.
It is hoped that NEC shall release the national election results not later than Saturday next thus relieve all exerting anticipations, dramas etc associated with election campaigns, voting, losing and winning.
