HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The third phase of talks with Somalia will commence after ongoing political shifts are complete.
This was announced by Somaliland’s Minister of foreign affairs during a press conference in Hargeisa where he said the temporary cessation has been occasioned by expected change of government in Somalia.
Said he, “this is not a withdrawal from the internationally sanctioned talks but a temporary pause to enable the southerners complete their shift from a transitional to a permanent government”
While informing that the Somaliland government and people fully supported the talks the minister also warned some religious elements that their destructive activities will not be accepted in the country
The minister who informed that a recent meeting held in Hargeisa by some religious leaders was not licensed by the authorities said that state apparatus are keeping a watchful eye and if a slight anti-government notion is detected action will be affected immediately
The Somaliland Somalia talks that are sponsored by the international community are as a result of the articles 6 and 10 of the London and Istanbul conferences on Somalia.
