Somalilandsun -Thousands of Somalilanders from all the regions of Sweden led by Somaliland representative in Sweden Amb. Rhoda Jama Elmi made a rally opposite the Swedish Parliament Compound in Stockholm on Wednesday 18 May 2016 to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Somaliland and lobby the Swedish government to recognize Somaliland.
The Somaliland Ambassador to Sweden MS Roda Jama Elmi, The chairman of Somaliland Recognition Committee in Sweden Mohamed Yusuf Badda and members of Somaliland community in Sweden addressed
the participants and emphasized how the Republic of Somaliland deserves international recognition from the international community.
On this occasion, the Ambassador of Somaliland to Sweden, Ms Roda Jama Elmi accompanied by a members of SLRC in Sweden submitted both an official letter from President of the Republic of Somaliland Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud Silanyo and an official document as Somaliland petition for recognition to the to Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Ms Margot walström and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs of Sweden Parliament Kennet Forslund.
This petition was received in a high protocol level and a promise was made to submit to the Swedish Parliament.In the evening there was a formal conference and panel discussion in the Swedish parliament for Somaliland’s quest for the recognition
