Somalilandsun: The over a decade position of the Somaliland vice president Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail Sayli as supreme political top honcho in Awdal region is facing its greatest challenge.
The challenge comes from the Somaliland Minister of Commerce Mohamed Hassan Sa’ad (Saajin) wants to run for the fourth seat in the KULMIYE party leadership, which has been held by the vice president for the last several decades.
Efforts to mediate between the two leaders have been going on for the past few weeks, but these efforts have been in vain.
Vice President Md. Sayli and Minister Saajin, who have not had a direct meeting since the beginning of their rivalry, have become increasingly estranged, and their rivalry is being felt in Hargeisa and Borama.
According to reliable local media sources mediation efforts with the participation of politicians, intellectuals and traditional leaders from all over Somaliland who were for and against the Vice President and Minister of Commerce in President Bihi’s government have failed thus the 4th Kulmiye deputy chair position is up for contest between the two during the 4th Congress of the Kulmiye Party scheduled for the 4th of next month, October, 2020.
