Somalilandsun: The Somaliland national police force is set for a major personnel facelift following the graduation of a large contingent of youthful recruits at the Lihle Forces Training College in Mandera.
The passing out parade by the below 25 years of age was officiated by president Muse Bihi Abdi was mounted graduands recruited by the police force, Immigration department, presidential guards, and a number of specialized security units.
Prior to the recruits passing out parade the head of state president had received a warm welcome from a contingent of military, police, prisons and coast guards officers senior government officials, the training college’s instructors in addition to local residents was taken on a tour of the facility where some of the graduands displayed their newly acquired crime investigation skills.
At the podium the head of state was flanked by all the country’s forces commanders namely Brigadier General Ahmed Awale ‘Libaax’ of the Custodial corps, Brigadier General Mohamed Farah Hirane of the Coast Guards and Major General Nuh Tani Ismail the Army Commander.
To jumpstart the graduation was Colonel Ibrahim Abdi Hashi, Commander of the Police Training College, and Colonel Abdi Ali Ahmed, Commander of the Lixle Training School who praised the new troops for their diligence and dedication to all instructions both in class and in the field physical while describing them as confident and endowed with all relevant skills that shall enable them to carry out the wide-ranging tasks that the nation expects of them.
According to the Commander of the Somaliland Police Force, Brigadier General Mohamed Aden Saqadhi (Dabagale), his entire command is set for a major overhaul, and the graduates are earmarked as officers to launch the process of modernization.
“This batch of graduates recruited from all the regions of the country, whose age is below 25 years and with a minimum of secondary school education as well as non-chewers of the stimulant Herb Khat is earmarked as the launching pad of the ongoing police reforms and more specifically taking over command of the force gradually,” said Brigadier Sagadhi
The interior ministry which is in charge of the training facility, as well as line ministry for the police service and custodial corps, pledged to avail the graduates all relevant support upon being seconded to their respective units.
“I hereby welcome these youthful graduates to the country’s various security agencies and urge them to utilize their skills diligently in serving their country and people,” said the deputy interior minister Abdinasir Aideed Mohamed, as he pledged full support and cooperation
While congratulating the new Somaliland multi-units security officers for hard work and dedication that led to successful graduation the President of the Republic of Somaliland, HE Muse Bihi Abdi, further urged the imperatives of diligence associated with their vital work in the community.
“I ask you all who mounted the colourful passing out parade to devote most of your time to working for unity and solidarity in the community.”Said President Muse Bihi Abdi
To culminate the graduation ceremony President Muse Bih Abdi who is also commander in chief of the Somaliland armed forces acknowledged top recruits in focus, training, leadership and good conduct among the 32nd batch of security forces trainees by presenting them with awards and batons. The new graduates who will be posted nationwide will join their respective units immediately. The Somaliland police force reform which is in partnership and funded by Britain’s the Ukaid is being implemented by Axiom international a London based outfit that provides world-class Forensic Science, Police and Security & Justice Services.
