Somalilandsun-While you might know of Somalia through news broadcasts, you might not know about the self-declared autonomous region known as The Republic of Somaliland.
Elizabethtown College presents “The Republic of Somaliland…?” as part of the President’s Community Enrichment Series. The lecture, offered by professors Gene Ann Behrens and Jonathan Rudy, is presented at noon Tuesday, Nov. 22, in the Susquehanna Room of the College’s Myer Hall,
Rudy is Peacemaker-in-Residence and professor of peace and conflict studies at E-town’s Center for Global Understanding and Peacemaking. He has related to this part of the Horn of Africa since 1987.
Behrens, professor of music and director of music therapy in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, recently led a workshop on the Neurobiology of Trauma for a social organization in Somaliland.
Together the professors explore this stable yet relatively unknown part of the world just outside of East Africa.
