Somalilandsun: Taiwan passport holders can now resume business travel to Somalia and Somaliland and transit through airports in both countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Tuesday.
In April, Somalia imposed a ban on the use of Taiwan passports by travelers entering or transiting through its airports. The restriction also affected airspace controlled by Somaliland, which is not widely recognized internationally but maintains positive unofficial relations with Taiwan.
The ministry said Tuesday that following multilateral efforts, Taiwanese passport holders will no longer encounter difficulties traveling to the Horn of Africa, per CNA. Officials thanked friendly nations for their assistance in resolving the matter.
Somaliland Foreign Minister Abdirahman Dahir Adam visited Taiwan last week, marking the first visit by a member of the new cabinet sworn in late last year. He praised bilateral cooperation in agriculture, healthcare, and personnel training, the ministry said.
