Hargiesa (Somalilandsun) – The President H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Mohamud Silanyo has signed an agreement with both the UK and Danish governments on grants to SL under the auspices of the Somaliland Development Fund (SDF).

The ambassadors of both European countries based in Nairobi represented their nations.

“The fund was initially started with 52m dollars although the British injected 5 more”, said Hon. Dr Sa’ad Ali Shire at the occasion of the signing on Thursday the 25th Nov. 2014 at the State House.

“More friendly countries and donors are expected to support the fund which will be jointly managed by the two representatives of the donors, the DFID and DANIDA”, elaborated the planning minister.

He however added that “It is of course incumbent upon the National Development Committee to decide the deserving areas of projects to be funded by SDF”.

He said that the decisions by the state will naturally be guided by priorities especially in areas of agriculture, livestock, water, environmental and road development.
